Monmouth's Jaden Shirden, Elon's Skyler Davis Named FCS ADA All-Americans
Monmouth running back Jaden Shirden and Elon kicker Skyler Davis earned spots on the 2022 FCS ADA All-America team.
Elon senior kicker Skyler Davis and Monmouth sophomore running back Jaden Shirden have been selected to the 2022 FCS Athletic Directors Association All-America team.
The FCS ADA All-America squad is one of the most prestigious as it recognizes only the top student-athletes across 11 different positions. The 2022 class includes student-athletes from 11 different institutions, representing seven different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors.
Davis, a first-team All-CAA honoree, connected on 18-of-22 field goals this season and matched a 40-year-old FCS record by making 7-of-8 from over 50 yards. His 18 made field goals was tied for third nationally this season and he also converted 31-of-32 extra points. Davis finished his career with 69 made field goals, which ranks second in CAA history and is tied for seventh all-time in FCS. He is Elon’s all-time leading scorer with 340 career points, which is the 9th-highest total in conference history.
Shirden, the 2022 CAA Offensive Player of the Year, was the leading rusher in FCS this season with 1,722 yards and 13 touchdowns. The yardage total was the 2nd-highest in school history and the most by a CAA player since 2013. He also led the nation in rushing yards per game (156.5 ypg) and yards per carry (8.36). Shirden topped the 100-yard mark in nine of his 11 games and went over 200 yards four times, highlighted by a 299-yard effort against Fordham that was the second-highest total in FCS in 2022. He had nine scoring runs of 50 or more yards.
From the 11 All-America Team honorees, an Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year will be announced on January 4, 2023, in advance of the FCS National Championship Game. The Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year recipients will be recognized at the FCS national championship contest in Frisco, Texas, during an on-field presentation.
