Towson Football Schedule 2023: What To Know
Towson Football prepares for the 2023 college football season with a new coach and a quarterback decision looming.
Towson Football will be under new direction for the 2023 season following the firing of longtime coach Rob Ambrose. Although Ambrose led the Tigers to the 2013 FCS Championship Game, he was never able to reach more than seven wins after that season, including last year when Towson finished 6-5.
The new man in charge is Pete Shinnick, formerly the head coach at West Florida. Shinnick, a Baltimore native, has football in his blood as his father is Baltimore Colts legend Don Shinnick.

W&M Picked To Win CAA, Shirden Named Preseason Offensive POTY
If Shinnick wants to have a successful homecoming with Towson in year one, he’s going to need to figure out the quarterback situation, as the Tigers look to replace former starter Tyrrell Pigrome.
The quarterbacks on the roster don't have much in-game experience and there's no clear favorite.
The most qualified quarterback for the job could be Scott Smith III, who started last season's home opener before getting injured. Nathan Kent is the only other quarterback on the roster with in-game college football experience. Kent served as a backup for the past two years.

The Tigers will travel 50 miles south to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins on Sept. 2.
The Terrapins won’t be their only big test, with Towson scheduled to play last season’s co-CAA champions New Hampshire and William & Mary later in the year.
