5 Things We Learned From the Gulf South Conference Football Media Day
The Statesmen received 61 total points and six first-place votes to become the league’s favorite, while West Florida was second with 56 points and two first-place votes.
Delta State and West Florida shared the GSC regular-season title in 2022 after both teams finished with a 6-1 record in conference play. For the Statesmen, it marked their first league title, shared or outright, since 2014 and eighth all-time. The Argonauts meanwhile claimed their second-ever conference title back-to-back fashion.
If predictions hold, Delta State would capture conference titles in back-to-back season for the first time since the 2010 and 2011 seasons. West Florida meanwhile can become the first program to win three-consecutive GSC crowns since Valdosta State, which accomplished the feat in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
West Georgia was predicted to finish third as it received 52 points and one first-place vote, West Alabama followed in fourth with 44 points and Valdosta State collected 33 points to round out the top five.
