10 High School Football, Prep Gridiron Prospects To Watch
The nation's top high school football prospects meet with bragging rights, and potentially future rivalries, on the line in 2023 Prep Gridiron competition.
The premier high school football teams from around the country meet in 2023 courtesy of Prep Gridiron.
The future of college, and even the NFL, meet with state bragging rights on the line, as well as the prospect of establishing some rivalries further down the line.
Prep Gridiron has put together an outstanding slate for 2023, kicking off Aug. 18 with three of the nation's top 10-ranked squads per MaxPreps.com in action.
Bringing together the best high school teams means bringing together the top high school prospects, and the Prep Gridiron schedule boasts the nation's leading recruits.
FloFootball spotlights 10 from the 2024 class — five on offense, five on defense — representing 10 of the teams on the 2023 Prep Gridiron docket.
Aaron Chiles, LB - Good Counsel (Maryland)
Ranked the top prospect in the state of Maryland by 247Sports composite metrics, and seventh among all linebackers in the country, Aaron Chiles leads a Good Counsel team ranked No. 22 to kick off the 2023 campaign.
Chiles averaged seven tackles per game in 2022 and produced a team-leading five sacks.
Chiles committed to Billy Napier's Florida Gators in June.

Nyier Daniels, OT - Bergen Catholic (New Jersey)
One of the biggest prospects of the 2024 signing class in the most literal sense, 6-foot-8, 360-pound Nyier Daniels is quite the pillar for No. 24-ranked Bergen Catholic.
He also figures to be a pillar of two-time reigning national champion Georgia, which secured a commitment from Daniels over Florida State and the locals at Rutgers.
Bergen Catholic went 11-1 last season with an offense featuring running back Saaed St. Fleur, now at Delaware; and quarterback Dominic Campanile.
Daniels again will be tasked with protecting Campanile, as Bergen Catholic seeks a New Jersey championship.
Hogan Hansen, TE - Bellevue (Washington)
At 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, Hogan Hansen is among the most promising tight end prospects in the country. He's headed to Michigan next season, having made his commitment to the Wolverines last December.
The rangy and athletic Hansen looks to make his mark over Labor Day weekend when he leads a Bellevue team with designs on the Washington State championship into a border battle with Central Catholic of Oregon.
Caleb Holmes, OL - Creekside (Georgia)
It's not often a college program from up north lands a lineman recruit from the SEC geographic footprint, but Pat Narduzzi and his Pitt Panthers staff pulled off just such a coup with four-star offensive line prospect Caleb Holmes.
Holmes helped Creekside to a 10-3 record in 2022, earning All-State recognition for his play up front. Creekside flourished offensively behind the lead of its 6-foot-4, 290-pound pillar of the line.
Noah Jenkins, CB/WR - Highland Springs (Virginia)
Virginia Tech-bound Noah Jenkins stands out among this group of 10 as the only prospect rated less than a high four stars. However, that suggests perhaps Jenkins is flying under the radar.
He excels on both sides of the ball, doubling as a difference-maker on defense and a leading target for quarterback Khristian Martin, Highland Springs' Maryland-committed quarterback.
Jenkins' two-way playmaking ability sets him apart as a player to watch when the Virginia State championship hopeful Highland Springs takes on Miramar High School of Florida in Prep Gridiron action.
Ify Obidegwu, CB - St. Frances Academy (Maryland)
Ify Obidegwu is headed across the country next year for college when he joins the Oregon Ducks — yet remaining in the Big Ten footprint. That might be odd, but there's nothing surprising about an Oregon program with a strong recent history of standout cornerback play looking to add the highly touted Obidegwu.
The No. 3 overall recruit from Maryland, and among the best cornerbacks in the country, Obidegwu is a big and physical presence in the secondary at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds.
He leads St. Frances Academy into a pair of Prep Gridiron contests this season, first in a top 10 national showdown with Buford High School, then a clash against East St. Louis over Labor Day weekend.
Dylan Raiola, QB - Buford (Georgia)
All eyes are on five-star blue-chipper Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2024 signing class and new quarterback of Georgia powerhouse Buford High School.
Raiola was the top player in the state of Arizona last season at Chandler High School.
The son of former Nebraska All-American offensive lineman and Rimington Trophy winner Dominic Raiola now looks to make his impression on the Peach State a year ahead of schedule.
Raiola is pledged to the reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs, a program that has its future featured prominently throughout the Prep Gridiron calendar.
Raiola is one of three Buford High blue-chip recruits on the field for the Aug. 18 Prep Gridiron clash with St. Frances Academy.
Safety K.J. Bolden is headed to Florida State, and defensive lineman Eddrick Houston has no shortage of options from top-tier college programs, such as Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia.
Ellis Robinson IV, CB - IMG Academy (Florida)
Perennial prep power IMG Academy continues to produce blue-chip recruit after blue-chip recruit.
The team's roster includes 2024 standouts Jordan Seaton on the offensive line, opening holes for Texas-bound running back Jerrick Gibson.
The defense includes five-star lineman David Stone, and in the secondary, Ellis Robinson.
Robinson is the nation's No. 4 overall recruit and one of the many elite prospects pledge to Georgia beyond this season. This ball-hawking defensive back leads IMG on opening night of the Prep Gridiron slate in a match with Lipscomb Academy of Tennessee.
Jordan Thomas, DL - Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey)
Add another future Georgia Bulldog to the list of 2023 Prep Gridiron stars committed to Kirby Smart's program.
Jordan Thomas, a high four-star-rated lineman from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, blends size with speed to shine as one of the most versatile players in the trenches anywhere in the country.
Landen Thomas, TE - Colquitt County (Georgia)
A top 25-ranked prospect, the nation's most highly touted tight end and a commit to Florida State, Landen Thomas headlines a Colquitt County team sporting top 20 national designation ahead of the 2023 campaign.
Colquitt County puts that ranking to the test early, facing Dutch Fork High School out of South Carolina.
Thomas was a machine last year with 753 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. After a big jump in his production from 2021 to 2022, the sky's the limit for Thomas in his senior season.
