Six teams ranked No. 73 or better in the HSFA 100 headline the slate of Prep Gridiron games set for Aug. 24, 25 and 26. The loaded weekend concludes on Saturday night with a marquee matchup of top 20-ranked opponents from D.C. and Florida. 

Kicking off the three-day weekend on Thursday night is another ranked squad, Milton High School out of Georgia. Milton's showdown with Western High School out of Davie, Florida, sets the tone for a loaded few days on the Prep Gridiron. 

Milton Vs. Western

Ranked No. 57 in the first HSFA 100 of 2023, Milton High School puts its designation on the line early with its visit to Western High School. 

Milton, coming off a 10-4 finish in 2022, opened the 2023 season with a 27-13 defeat of Collins Hill. Quarterback and 2025 commit to the Miami Hurricanes Luke Nickel threw a pair of touchdowns — one of which went to fellow '25 prospect CJ Wiley. 

The 6-foot-4 Wiley is part of a standout corps of pass-catchers that also includes 2024 Texas A&M pledge Debron Gatling and 4-star 2025 tight end Ryan Ghea.  The Eagles aren't lacking for playmakers on the other side of the ball, either, with state of Georgia top 40 prospect in the 2025 class Tyler Redmond in a secondary that also includes Tennessee commit Shamar Arnoux and Dylan Lewis. 

Thursday's host Western went 7-4 a season ago but the Wildcats have plenty of reason to expect a massive jump in 2023. One of those reasons is running back Tovani Mitchell, a big physical ball-carrier at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. 

Mitchell is SEC-bound with a commitment to Kentucky. 

Wide receiver Daijon Calimon is a big-play threat in the passing game, while dual-threat playmaker Davi Belfort — a Virginia Tech commit — keys the offense. 

Highland Springs Vs. Miramar

No. 73 Highland Springs out of Virginia travels to the Sunshine State to face Miramar on Friday night. 

The Springers are reigning champions in Virginia, thanks in no small part to perhaps the state's top quarterback-wide receiver connection in Kristian Martin and Noah Jenkins. 

The quarterback Martin is headed to Maryland next season, while Jenkins is pledged to Virginia Tech. Jenkins' size can create problems for any opposing secondary, but Miramar will try to slow the future Hokie on Friday in Florida. 

Among the Patriots aiming to limit Highland Springs' prolific offense is Indiana Hoosiers commit and edge rusher Shamar Meikle. The 6-foot-5 Meikle is a rangy playmaker keying a Miramar defense that opened the 2023 season with a 21-0 shutout of Miami Edison. 

Clarkson North Vs. Martinsburg

Canadian school Clarkson North embarks on its annual tour of the United States as it makes the trip south to Martinsburg, West Virginia. The international matchup is the first of four dates on the Saturday calendar of Prep Gridiron competition. 

Martinsburg High School begins its 2023 season with a roster capable of reclaiming a spot as the top prep program in the state after dominating West Virginia for much of the 2010s. 

St. Peter's Prep Vs. Creekside

Saturday's action continues with a pairing of northern and southern teams. New Jersey's St. Peter's Prep brings a stout defense to Georgia's Creekside High School, featuring 2024 Stanford Cardinal commit Joe Asiain on the defensive line. 

He'll lead the Marauders front against a Creekside offensive line that boasts 4-star prospect and Pitt Panthers commit Caleb Holmes. With Holmes up front, the Creekside offense also boasts one of the state of Georgia's most highly touted 2025 wide receivers in Dylan Vickerson. The 6-foot-2 Vickerson is garnering interest from a variety of SEC programs. 

DeMatha Catholic Vs. Springfield 

Two of the nation's top 60-ranked teams clash in Ohio on Saturday when Springfield High, No. 54 in the HSFA 100, hosts No. 43-ranked and perennial powerhouse DeMatha Catholic from the D.C. area. 

Springfield boasts the highest rated recruit in the state of Ohio's 2024 signing class, cornerback Aaron Scott. The Ohio State Buckeyes commit pledged to Ryan Day's program over offers from rival Michigan and soon-to-be Big Ten Conference counterpart Oregon. 

He plays in the secondary with two-way standout Da'Shawn Martin, another 2024 prospect committed to remain in Ohio for college. Martin, who also shines at wide receiver, is set to attend Kent State next season. 

DeMatha always boasts its share of Div. I talent, and the 2023 lineup is no exception Virginia Tech-committed defensive lineman Emmett Laws. Joining him up front is one of the class of 2025's premier edge rushers Cortez Harris. 

The DeMatha offensive line features two of the top 35-ranked players in Maryland's 2024 signing class with Pitt-bound Mason Lindsay and University of Maryland-pledged Terez Davis. The duo contribute to a front line that will look to make lanes for junior running back Bud Coombs.

St. John's Vs. American Heritage 

Arguably saving the best for last on an outstanding three-day weekend of football, Prep Gridiron wraps its Aug. 26 docket under the lights in Florida for a top 20 encounter. 

No. 19 St. John's College High School heads down from the Nation's Capital with a standout roster featuring Oregon Ducks commit Da'Jaun Riggs at running back, Cincinnati Bearcats pledge Montay Weedon at linebacker, and one of the nation's top 2025 recruits, Tariq Hayer at cornerback. 

The Cadets are coming off a championship-winning season in 2022, and could via for a national title in 2023. They'll need to score a signature road win over American Heritage to build that case, however. 

The Florida prep powerhouse comes in ranked No. 16 and rolling with some potential breakout stars. Running back Deandre Desinor is already one of the most touted prospects of the 2025 signing class, but is a candidate to make the leap to 5-star designation with a big junior season. 

Desinor shares carries with fellow 2025 4-star prospect Byron Louis, giving American Heritage what might be the best backfield anywhere in the nation.
