Despite having a down year, finishing 6-5, Elon football had some reasons to be optimistic about their 2023 season. The team nabbed two wins against Top 25-ranked conference opponents, William & Mary and Delaware.

The Phoenix also finished fourth in sacks (28) and sixth in interceptions (10) in the CAA conference. The last stat was buoyed by safety Caleb Curtain, who won plaudits for his four interceptions, 4.5 sacks and 80 tackles last season. 

Curtain was named second team All-American by multiple outlets and should continue to lead the defense this season.
