Head coach Jordan Stevens led the Maine Black Bears to a 2-9 record in the 2024 season, their second consecutive with that record. Maine fell towards the bottom of the standings, landing above two 10-loss teams in North Carolina A&T and Stony Brook.

During CAA Media Day, coach Stevens talked about a "reset' for Maine football, with a specific focus on the run game. 

On the receiving end, the Black Bears return their biggest threat in wide receiver Joe Gillette, who was named to the CAA Preseason All-Conference team. Gillette ended the 2023 season with 570 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Gillette will want to sync early with a new signal-caller, as last year's QB Derek Robertson moved to in-conference foe Monmouth.
