Campbell debuted in the Coastal Athletic Association in 2023, finishing in the middle of the pack as one of five teams with a 4-4 conference record. The Camels were 5-6 overall.

They’ll enter the 2024 campaign under the leadership of new head coach Braxton Harris, who served on the team’s staff in 2021 and 2022, before spending the 2023 season at the helm of the Houston Christian program.

One Campbell standout was selected to the 2024 CAA Preseason All-Conference team – senior linebacker CJ Tillman – while sophomore receiver and return specialist VJ Wilkins and senior long snapper Bobby Cleary earned preseason honorable mentions. Cleary also was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America third team. 

Campbell still is a team on the rise after returning to action in 2008 following a hiatus from play that began after the 1950 season.

From their return in 2008 through 2017, the Camels played in the Pioneer Football League. They moved to the Big South Conference from 2018-2022.
