Elon will open its 2024 season with a pair of nonconference road games close to home – at Duke and North Carolina Central – before a four-game homestand kicks off a string of 10 consecutive games that will be streamed live on FloFootball.

The first conference game of the year for the Phoenix won’t come until Week 5, so it will be a while before they know if that scheduling strategy will pay off. Elon was 6-5 overall last season but 6-2 in CAA action, which started three weeks in.

The Elon defense will be anchored by junior safety Caleb Curtain, who was named the CAA Football’s Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. He led the Phoenix last season with 80 tackles and topped the CAA charts with four interceptions. That success has made him a staple across the preseason teams and watchlists this season. 

Curtain is one of seven returning starters on defense, balancing out the team’s experience, as seven starters also will return on offense.

Redshirt senior wide receiver Chandler Brayboy has racked up some offensive accolades for Elon, including preseason all-conference honors as a receiver and kick returner. 

In 2023, Brayboy led the Phoenix with 589 receiving yards. He also was fourth in the CAA in yards per kick return (26.9) and eighth nationally in yards per reception (19.6).
