After the high expectations of 2023 were dashed following an injury-plagued season, the William & Mary Football team begins the 2024 season playing an in-state program Virginia Military Institute. 

The Tribe hosts the Keydets at 6 p.m. on Aug. 29 at Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Va.

The game is the return of one of W&M’s most prolific running backs in program history, Bronson Yoder, who played just four game sin 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury that threw a wrench into the 2023 expectations. 

The Tribe started the season ranked in the top 5 of the FCS polls in 2023, but struggled in CAA play, going 4-4 and 6-5 overall. 

This year, William & Mary is ranked No. 16 in the preseason polls. VMI went 5-6 overall and 4-4 in the Southern Conference.
