Following one of the best seasons in program history, UAlbany Football enters the 2024 season ranked in the top 15 of the FCS poll and hoping to claim a share of a second-straight CAA championship. 

The Great Danes went 11-4 under coach Greg Gattuso in 2023 and reached the FCS Playoffs. Once there, UAlbany beat CAA rival Richmond and No. 4 Idaho before falling to eventual national champion South Dakota State in the FCS semifinals.

Helping the UAlbany cause in 2024 is the addition of quarterback Myles Burkett, a Wisconsin Football transfer who replaces Reese Poffenbarger, who transferred to Miami (Fla.) this offseason. 

The quest to be even better in 2024 starts at home against in-state program Long Island at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany. 

The Sharks went 4-7 in 2023  and 4-3 in the Northeast Conference.
