West Alabama football is ascendent in the hard-nosed Gulf South Conference, at least to start the season. 

After going 4-4 last season, the Tigers have 50 percent of their total wins last season through two games. Are they the real deal? 

We'll find out this week when they take on Limestone football in Livingston, Alabama.

Limestone had a much more successful 2023 season, and looks to be on the same path in 2024. The Saints went 8-4 last season and ended up losing to Valdosta in the first round of the Division 2 Playoffs. 

UWA has defeated Miles and Tusculum so far this season, with the latter being a 45-point dismantling. Limestone did much the same in their game, beating West Liberty 48-13. 

Players to watch for each team include Dustin Noller, the Limestone quarterback, and Spencer Arceneaux, a dual-threat quarterback for UWA Tigers.

West Alabama vs. Limestone is Saturday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
