And that is a wrap on Ferris State's second home game of the 2024 season. Next week is a bye week for the Bulldogs before they head to American International College on September 28.
Despite a penalty-filled journey throughout this game against the Eagles, the Ferris State Bulldogs showed they were the better team as their offense's fast pace kept the defense on their toes and often left in their dust.
Young quarterback Trinidad Chambliss showed huge growth as he stepped in for Carson Gulker after his injury last week. Chambliss led the Ferris State offense to 530 yards with 28 completions on 38 attempts. He played a critical piece in each touchdown scored today, except for the first during the opening kickoff.
The Bulldogs defense also showed up tonight, holding the Eagles to just 127 yards. The Eagles were unable to overcome the suffocating defense in Big Rapids, Michigan.

After a 43-3 lead in the 4th quarter, Ferris State's feeling more comfortable making some changes with their lineup for the remainder of the game. LeeShaun Mumpfield takes over the reins for the Bulldogs offense, who is showing early signs of craving to sneak through tight spaces on the ground.
After some extracurriculars and offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties for both teams, Ashland closes out the 3rd quarter with the ball, dealing with 3rd and 11 on their own 31 yard line when they return in the 4th.
The Middleton field goal attempt after a long drive by the Bulldogs hits the uprights from 26 yards away. Eagles ball.
Chambliss continues to lead the offense on their tirade as they score once again with a short pass to pick things up right where they left off in the first half.
What better way to start the second half is there than a huge interception in the midfield to get the ball going the other way? Immediately following, Chambliss nails a huge throw for a 35-yard completion to Emari O'Brien.

First Half Hand-picked Stats
Despite 7 penalties for 85 yards for the Bulldogs, Ashland has been unable to overcome the stuffy defense and quick-paced offense Ferris State brought to the field tonight. Ashland Eagles made more of their errors in the latter part of the first half with 7 penalties for 33 yards total.
Overall, a great showing by Ferris State led by junior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss with two rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown.
Junior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has shown his progress today since the start of the season as he's orchestrated more than 340 yards of offense so far in this game. One more rushing touchdown on the stats for him today.
After Ashland is unable to capitalize on turnovers and penalties by the Bulldogs, they get stuffed into their own endzone by an overwhelming Ferris State defense. Safety.
Momentum is continuing for Ferris State. Chambliss is making smart plays and good passes to move the ball quickly downfield. A dart from Chambliss to Jeremiah Lee hits him right in the chest as he steps into the endzone. Extra point is good by Middleton.

After a very disjointed drive by Ashland filled with Bulldogs penalties, Ashland was unable to complete the conversion missing the field goal attempt from 32 yards out.
In the midst of a pick-6 by the Bulldogs, a defensive holding call reversed the outcome. While that was being settled, the bench earned an additional unsportsmanlike conduct call.
Closing out the first quarter, the Eagles were able to stop the Bulldogs and receive the punt. They end the first quarter with 2nd and 8 on their own 43.
Some chippiness has developed in the margins between plays between the Bulldogs defense and Ashland offense on this drive. 3rd and 5, ball at the Ferris State 40 resulted in Bulldogs bringing the blitz and closing in on Bycznski, forcing the throwaway. Punt results in touchback, Bulldogs ball.
There's a tough break for the Bulldogs after a great breakaway run by Markel King, who dropped the ball as he was brought down. Ashland's Aidan Arth recovered the ball at the Eagles 28.
After 8 plays, 62 yards gained, and a false start, Trevor Bycznski and the Ashland Eagles were unable to overcome the Bulldogs defense. A.J. Rhodes makes the field goal from 30 yards out.
With Trinidad Chambliss behind the wheel for the Ferris State offense, the Bulldogs are not letting up on holding a fast pace. Chambliss runs it in for another touchdown.
