Depending on how your team is doing, among other factors, four weeks into the football season can either feel like it's gone by in a flash, or has lasted a lifetime.

It is, however, when teams start accumulating an identity.

It's when meaningful football begins, and a slew of incredible matchups this week are evidence of that.

Below are five hand-picked games being broadcast on FloFootball, each with a few reasons to watch.

This week we have: the Battle for the Wests, gunslingers, David vs. Goliath, and lots and lots of offense.

Here's the reasons to watch these five games.

Why To Watch Central Washington Vs. West Texas A&M

  • Records:
    • No. 9 Central Washington 1-1
    • West Texas A&M 1-2
  • Day/Time: Saturday, September 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Tanner Volk Is Probably An NFL-Caliber Safety

    • Volk is an elite D2 safety who had a phenomenal 2023 season capped off by winning the Cliff Harris Award.
    • He had 13 interceptions in 2023, which led the entirety of NCAA football, and averaged one per game.
    • At 6-foot tall, Volk has the size to compete at safety in the NFL if he gets a chance.
    • Through two games this season, Volk is leading the team with 16 tackles.
  2. Sean Johnson Is A Fun Football Player

    • The Buffs lost last week to Western Colorado, but their quarterback Johnson still had 52 rushing yards and 216 passing yards.
    • Johnson ranks No. 16 in D2 in rushing with 276 yards through three games.
    • More enjoyably, he ranks second in rushing touchdowns (6) and No. 11 in yards per carry with a 7.26 average.
  3. CWU Loves To Run, Too

    • The Wildcats have a bit of a running-back-by-committee, with three RBs averaging over 40 yards a game.
    • Last year's leading rusher was Tyler Flanagan, who had a 1,000 yards on the season.
    • Flanagan hasn't had a breakout game yet this season, but clocked 186 rushing yards against WTAMU a year ago.

Why To Watch West Florida Vs. West Alabama

  • Records:
    • No. 13 West Florida 1-0
    • West Alabama 3-0
  • Day/Time: Saturday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. West Alabama Enters The Chat

    • Despite not being ranked by d2football.com, the AFCA Coaches Poll has West Alabama Ranked as No. 23.
    • The Tigers have won their first three games of the season for the first time since 2021.
    • They are beating teams holistically. There's no single stat that jumps off the page for West Alabama.
    • However... 10 sacks and 5 interceptions certainly help.
  2. Trevon Lambert Is A Beast

    • Lambert, an EDGE for West Alabama, has 4.5 sacks through three games. Nearly half of the team's total.
    • He also has 5 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles.
    • If one person is going to ruin West Florida's day, it's probably Lambert.
  3. West Florida Is Starting A Redshirt Freshman

    • Marcus Stokes is the only quarterback to take any snaps in the Argos' one game this season.
    • There were positives. Stokes threw for 231 yards with an incredible 74 percent completion rate.
    • Stokes replaces Peewee Jarrett, who graduated.
  4. Battle Of The Wests

    • These teams have played eight times in total, with each program winning four games each.
    • Who's going to tip the balance?

Why To Watch UW-La Crosse Vs. Grand Valley State

  • Records:
    • No. 2 Grand Valley State 2-0
    • No. 5 (DIII) UW-La Crosse 2-0
  • Day/Time: Saturday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Classic David Vs. Goliath Narrative

    • UW-La Crosse, to their credit, is a No. 5-ranked D3 school, who beat a D2 school (Northern Michigan) just last week.
    • The Eagles are, however, briskly walking into the lion's den that is Lubbers Stadium against the No. 2-ranked D2 team.
    • UWL made it to the D3 quarterfinals last season.
    • GVSU made it to the D2 semifinals last season.
  2. Lubbers Stadium Is Giving Little Lambeau Vibes

    • Lubbers Stadium is well-known for being a tough place to play, and the fans show up.
    • Rain or shine, you'll see an ocean of Pantone 286c royal blue filling up the stadium.
    • Lubbers totaled 100,882 in attendance last season.
  3. GVSU Offense Is Bonkers Good

    • Through 137 total plays, GVSU has tried to convert on fourth-down only once, and has punted only 8 times.
    • The Lakers have five players averaging over 50 yards rushing per game.
    • GVSU is averaging 7.8 yards per play and has already passed the 1,000-yard mark in total offense.

Why To Watch Wingate Vs. Carson-Newman

  • Records:
    • No. 23 Wingate 2-0
    • Carson-Newman 2-0
  • Day/Time: Saturday, September 21 at 1:00 p.m. ET

  1. Wingate Upset The Fighting Okra

    • Wingate thoroughly dismantled No. 17 Delta State last week, winning 21-7.
    • The Bulldogs sacked Delta State quarterback Cole Kirk four times and forced two fumbles.
    • They held the Statesman to 253 total yards of offense.
  2. Carson-Newman Dropped 100 In Two Games

    • Caron-Newman's offense is firing on all cylinders as the team has top 100 points through their first two games.
    • The Eagles first ran up the score against Reinhardt, winning 50-7. Side note: Reinhardt is NAIA.
    • CN then defeated West Virginia State 56-25.
    • Four separate players have accumulated two rushing touchdowns, including quarterback Tre Luttrell
  3. Wingate Is Pronounced "Wing-get"

    • Nuff said.

Why to Watch UT Permian Basin Vs. Texas A&M Kingsville

  • Records:
    • UT Permian Basin 2-1
    • Texas A&M Kingsville 1-1
  • Day/Time: Saturday, September 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Can Confirm Dylan Graham Is A Gunslinger

    • Graham has thrown for 879 passing yards through three games. Good enough for fourth in D2.
    • He's also thrown 9 touchdowns with only two interceptions on 111 attempts.
  2. UTPB = Touchdown Factory

    • The Falcons rank second in D2 in total touchdowns, with 16.
    • They are also the only team in D2 to have both a safety and a two-point conversion.
    • In total, the Falcons have scored 129 points.
  3. TAMUK's First Real Test

    • It's unclear just how good the Javelinas are this year.
    • At 1-1, they lost their first game by three points to a good Colarado Mesa team, then defeated Mississippi College 27-7.
    • A win against UTPB would set the season ablaze for a Kingsville program that went 7-3 last year.
