Grand Valley State, currently undefeated and ranked No. 2 in D2, will begin GLIAC conference play this week with a trip to Caledonia, Michigan, to play the Davenport Panthers.

The Lakers (4-0) are coming off a 31-7 dismantling of the then-No. 21-ranked West Florida, who have since fallen out of the polls. Running back Khalil Eichelberger and quarterback Avery Moore each had two rushing touchdowns, while Moore accumulated 137 yards on the ground and another 106 through the air. 

Davenport, at 3-1, has had a successful start to the season, defeating Thomas More, Bowie State and William Jewell, with their only loss being a one-point defeat to No. 12 Central Missouri. 

Last season, Davenport only lost two games in back-to-back games against GLIAC's best, Ferris State and Grand Valley State, to end the season. They missed the playoffs while Ferrris and GVSU moved on to the D2 bracket.
