Butler Football (4-0) begins its Pioneer Football League season by hosting Morehead State (3-2, 1-0) at 1 p.m. on Oct. 5. 

The Bulldogs received nine votes in the latest AFCA FCS rankings and enter the game with its first 4-0 record since 2009, when Butler went 11-1. The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back shutout wins where they beat Hanover and Virginia-Lynchburg by a combined score of 116-0.

Morehead State beat Valparaiso 17-5 on Sept. 28 that snapped a two-game skid. One of those losses was to powerhouse Montana 59-2. Morehead State went 4-7 and 3-5 in conference play in 2023. 

That includes a 49-7 loss to Butler.
