Angelo State Football sits atop of the Lone Star Conference at 2-0 with UT Permian Basin trailing behind them at 2-1. Two of the frontrunners in the preseason poll, this game could have huge implications heading into the postseason. 

Angelo State has defeated the two New Mexico teams in the conference, beating Eastern 26-20 and Western 21-0. UTPB dominated Western New Mexico and Midwestern State, their only blemish being a 20-14 loss at Texas A&M Kingsville.
