No. 4 Colorado School of  Mines was stunned by inter-state rival Colorado Mesa 14-13 in Week 6 on Oct. 5.

The loss by one of the heavy favorites to win the national championship should open the door for Ferris State, which again dominated on Saturday, to move up in the rankings.

Colorado School of Mines allowed 14 points in the fourth quarter at home to pick up the win. Meanwhile Ferris State beat one of the Lakers of the GLIAC, Roosevelt, 55-13 as the Bulldogs and the No. 2 Grand Valley State Lakers continue their path on a collision course that will end on Oct. 26 in the 2024 Anchor Bone Classic.

GVSU beat Davenport 24-7.

No. 3 Valdosta State also kept pace with the other powers in Division II with a 59-6 win over Shorter.

In the Lone Star Conference, Angelo State Football walloped UTPB after quarterback Dylan Graham suffered a leg injury in the first half. The Rams took advantage and won 36-7.
