Ever noticed that if a school is ranked in one Top 25 Poll, and not the other poll, they'll regard the one that favors them as the only poll that exists in the entire world? I have.

But, I guess it's better than saying: "We're ranked No. 25/NR." For what it's worth, FloFootball defers to the AFCA Coaches Poll, but we love all polls equally.

More importantly, college football rages on like a series of 12 incredibly stressful, yet massively entertaining Marvel films jam-packed into a 16-week period.

Below are five hand-picked games being broadcast on FloFootball, each with a few reasons to watch.

This week, we have a game your grandpa would've watched as a young man, a game in which a team that hasn't lost since 2023 is playing a team that hasn't won since 2022; and lots of defense.

Here are the reasons to watch these five games.

Why To Watch Brown Vs. Rhode Island

  • Records:
    • No. 21 Rhode Island 4-1
    • Brown 2-1
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Errol Flynn Was Born The Year These Teams Starting Playing Each Other 👴🏻

    • The first time the Rams played the Bears was in 1909.
    • This year will mark the 108th meeting between Rhode Island and Brown.
    • Now known as the Governor's Cup, Brown leads the all-time series by a whopping 73–32–2.
    • If you don't know who Errol Flynn is, I can't help you.
  2. A.J. Pena Has The Makings Of An Elite College Football Defender

    • Pena had a breakout season for the Rams a year ago, accumulating nine sacks and 15 tackles for loss.
    • As a junior this season, Pena already has five sacks and eight tackles for loss through five games.

Why To Watch West Alabama Vs. Mississippi College

  • Records:
    • No. 11 West Alabama 4-0
    • Mississippi College 0-5
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. West Alabama Hasn't Played A Game Since September 21

    • It feels strange to mention a postponed or canceled college football game when so many folks are still reeling from the deadly Hurricane Helene. By the way, if you can donate, I recommend the World Central Kitchen.
    • But, it's worth noting, as a result of the disaster, West Alabama hasn't played a game since the third week of September.
    • UWA's last game was an upset of then-ranked West Florida. The Tigers won 35-33.
  2. UWA Has Moved Up Seven Spots In The Rankings

    • In spite of not having a game, the Tigers have continued to rise up the AFCA Coaches Poll.
    • They've gone from No. 17 after their win over the Argos, to No. 11 this week.
  3. This Game Could Be A Blow-Out

    • With all due respect to the Choctaws, they come into the matchup 0-5 on the season.
    • UWA could come out rusty, but playing against a winless Mississippi College team could be incredibly advantageous as the Tigers get back into the swing of things.
    • Especially with No. 19 Delta State looming next week.

Why To Watch Texas A&M Kingsville Vs. Angelo State

  • Records:
    • Texas A&M Kingsville 4-1
    • Angelo State 3-2
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Which Team Is A Genuine Contender?

    • ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    • Both teams beat last year's LSC regular season champion UT Permian Basin.
    • TAMUK looks good, and is 4-1, but lost their first game to Colorado Mesa and haven't played a ton of high-quality opponents yet.
    • Angelo State has more losses (2), but dismantled UTPB last week, 36-7.
    • The Rams lost their first two games of the season to Fort Hays and Emporia State, who is now ranked No. 18.
  2. Conference Record Implications

    • Four teams are currently 3-0 in Lone Star Conference play: Central Washington, Kingsville, Angelo State and Western Oregon.
    • At least one will gain a loss this week, which could make a huge difference by the end of the season.
  3. D-🤺 (Defencing? There Is No 'Fence' Emoji, Okay.)

    • Defense will play a massive role in this game as both teams come in allowing under 14 points per game.
    • Angelo State has the No. 11 scoring defense in the nation, while TAMUK is No. 15.
    • Kingsville is one of two teams in D2 who haven't allowed a single field goal (how is that possible?)
  4. The Javelinas Have Multiple Defensive Dogs

    • By the numbers, Angelo State may have the better overall defense.
    • But the Javelinas have a mind-boggling 43 tackles for loss through their five games.
    • Two players, Xavier Henderson (8.5) and Demarcus Hendricks (6.5) account for 15 of those TFL.
    • The two defenders also account for 6.5 sacks, seven QB hurries, and two forced fumbles.

Why To Watch Grand Valley State Vs. Northern Michigan

  • Records:
    • No. 2 Grand Valley State 5-0
    • Northern Michigan 0-5
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Northern Michigan Hasn't Won A Game In 649 Days

    • I'm sorry, but it's true.
    • The last time Northern Michigan won a game was November 12, 2022.
    • It was their season finale against Lake Erie College.
  2. Grand Valley State Hasn't Lost A Game In 296 Days

    • GVSU last lost a game on December 2, 2023, but it was a D2 playoff game against eventual national champion Harding.
    • The last regular season game the Lakers lost was 398 days ago on August 2, 2023, against Colorado School of the Mines.
  3. I'm Just Going To Leave Y'all With That

    • ::walks away while making eye contact::

Why to Watch Central Washington Vs. UT Permian Basin

  • Records:
    • UT Permian Basin 3-3
    • No. 9 Central Washington 4-1
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  1. Pack Lightly Because This Game Has Baggage

    • This is only Central Washington's second home game of the season.
    • Through five games, the Wildcats have traveled to California, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico.
    •  In their final six games, CWU only has two games away from their home in Ellensburg, Washington.
  2. Speaking Of Baggage

    • These were the two best teams in the Lone Star Conference last season.
    • UTPB crushed CWU in their 2023 matchup, 42-14.
    • The Wildcats will no doubt be looking to avenge that loss, and will be heavily favored to do so.
    • Both teams ended up making the D2 playoffs.
  3.  Central Washington Could Run The Table

    • See No. 1 above.
    • Central Washington opened the season with a loss to San Diego, but they haven't lost since.
    • The Wildcats only have conference opponents remaining, but no single team has differentiated themselves as a contender yet.
  4. College Football For Night Owls

    • This game doesn't start until 9:00 p.m. ET.
    • If your sleep chronotype is the Wolf (look it up y'all), you might be interested in putting this one on in the background.
