To start the season, this matchup between UT Permian Basin and Central Washington was highly anticipated, both teams picked to finish atop the Lone Star Conference standings. But now, a few weeks into the conference season, the dynamic of this matchup has completely changed. 

Last week in their matchup against Angelo State, UTPB lost their star quarterback Dylan Graham, one of the LSC's best, who dominated the Lone Star Conference statistics. They struggled to move the ball offensively, until their third string quarterback was able to connect with a receiver late in the game to put up a singular touchdown. UTPB has slid down the conference standings, now sitting at 2-2 and searching for a new identity around halfway through the season.

Central Washington on the flip side has been absolutely dominant, slowly climbing up the D2 football rankings, where they now sit at No. 9. They are 4-1 on the season, their only blemish being a 26-7 loss to FCS team, San Diego. Apart from that, they have been dominant, easily handling their first three games, winning with 20+ point margins. A balanced team with a suffocating defensive wall and an explosive offense, this team is dangerous and looks to make a deep run in the post season.  

The two teams will kick off on Saturday, October 12th at 6:00 p.m. CST in San Angelo, Texas.
