As the weeks go by and the action intensifies in the Gulf South and this week will feature many games within the conference and one of those games are Delta State at North Greenville on Oct 26 at Younts Stadium in Tigerville, SC.

This is a preview of the matchup and to see how both teams stack up against each other.

Delta State, North Greenville Results From The Previous Week

  • Delta State - After suffering a defeat on the road to West Florida, 40-28, on October 12, the Statesmen would bounce back with a home win against now No. 18 West Alabama, who were No. 10 at the time, to put them both at 2-1 in the eight-team conference. This win not only landed them back into the Division II ranking, but they now own the tiebreaker between the two if it comes down to that at the end of the season.

  • North Greenville - The Trailblazers also rebounded from a tough loss against conference foe and leader, Valdosta State football. Defeating Erskine by 17 points after only losing to the Valdosta State by one possession can definitely be the drive needed by the team going into this game when they face Delta State.

GSC Football Weekly Awards For Week 7

  • North Greenville WRs - Senior Dre' Williams had the game of his life so far on Saturday with eight catches and four touchdowns, totaling for 208 receiving yards and breaking a number of records for the conference including the longest reception (70 yards). Freshman Tyshon Mansell took home FOW honors after hauling in six grabs and scoring two touchdowns.

History Between Delta State and North Greenville

  • Series History - This will be the eight overall meeting for these two teams but the series lead belongs to the Statesmen with the advantage 5-2, winning the last two by 18 and 33 points. The first meeting took place in 2011 at Parker Field at McCool Stadium in Cleveland, Miss, where Delta State pull out the close 28-23 win.

  • Can Delta State win three in a row? -  With North Greenville only winning two of these meetings prior to the one they will have on Saturday against Delta State, they are going to not only want to get another conference win ahead of their next conference opponents in Valdosta State and West Florida, but to try to bridge the gap that Delta State is looking to build on for years to come.
