Another week, another set of amazing football games. Here's what to watch on FloFootball in Week 9 of the college football season.

My advice to you: enjoy it while it lasts.

Whether your team is entering week 9 with a miserable 0-7 record, or competing with the titans of the sport. Enjoy it.

Now, you may say, "sir, I watched True Detective season 1, and I know 'time is a flat circle.'" To which I say to you, dear reader, I prefer the inclinations of one Mr. George Harrison, proclaiming that "all things must pass."

Philosophical persuasians aside, I can, in fact, guarantee the 2024 college football season will come to an end. The footballs will be laid to rest in the bin; the jerseys will be cleansed of all uncleanse-able grass stains; the lockers will gather dust; football tiktoks will go into hibernation.

So, enjoy, and watch some college football. Here's why you should this week.

Why To Watch Ferris State Vs. Grand Valley State

  • Records:
    • No. 3 Ferris State 6-1
    • No. 1 Grand Valley State 7-0
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  • This Is The Best College Football Game This Week. Period.

    • The 3:00 p.m. ET time slot is stacked this week, and yet, Ferris vs. GVSU will be the best of the bunch.
    • These are two of the best teams in Division 2, and nearly every week they do something special.
    • They also hate eachother.
    • The Lakers haven't lost since last year's playoffs, and Ferris has only lost to three teams in the last two seasons, GVSU (twice), FCS program Montana, and Pittsburg.
  • You Can't Make This Stuff Up

    • When Ferris State and GVSU met last season, the roles were reversed. GVSU was No. 4 and Ferris State was No. 1.
    • GVSU ended up winning that game 49-28, upsetting the No. 1 team.
    • Will Ferris State return the favor?
  • Prelude To The Playoffs

    • These teams have met in the regular season and the playoffs the last three seasons.
    • 2023
      • 11/18: Home, Allendale, MI - GVSU 21 - 14 Ferris State
      • 10/14: Home, Allendale, MI - GVSU 49 - 28 Ferris State
    • 2022
      • 12/3: Home, Allendale, MI - GVSU 21 - 24 Ferris State
      • 10/15: Away, Big Rapids, MI - GVSU 22 - 21 Ferris State
    • 2021
      • 11/27: Neutral, Big Rapids, MI - GVSU 20 - 54 Ferris State
      • 10/16: Home, Allendale, MI - GVSU 28 - 35 Ferris State
  • Numbers Don't Lie

    • GVSU may have the No. 1 ranking in the Top 25 right now, but Ferris State's stats look better so far this season.
    • The Dawgs have the No. 5 scoring defense (10.29ppg) in D2, and the No. 3 scoring offense (45.6ppg).
    • The Lakers have the No. 8 scoring defense (10.57ppg) in D2, and the No. 35 scoring offense (37.1ppg).
  • Kyle Nott's One-Handed Catch From Last Year's Game

Why To Watch Maine Vs. Rhode Island

  • Records:
    • Maine 4-3
    • No. 15 Rhode Island 6-1
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  • Maine: Destroyer Of Seasons

    • The Blacks Bears have played spoiler twice already this season.
    • UAlbany, who went to D2 playoff semifinals last season, were ranked No. 21 when they were summarily dismantled by the Black Bears, 34-20.
    • Last week, Villanova got the treatment. The then-No. 5 Wildcats lost 35-7 to a Maine team that went into the contest with a 3-3 record.
    • Rhode Island enters with a 6-1 record, the No. 15-ranked team. It's one of the best seasons in recent memory.
  • A Group Of Rams Is Called A Flock

    • Kind of disappointed there isn't a more specific name for a group of rams, but I suppose they are just male sheep.
    • However, this group of (Rhode Island) Rams is putting it all together with a team effort.
    • There aren't many splashy stats from URI so far this season. They just continue to win.
    • The exception is two defensive players.
    • AJ Pena, who has 24 tackles, 11 TFLs and 7 sacks.
    • And Cole Brockwell, who has 66 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
  • This Game Is Free To Watch

  • Rhody's Eyes

    • Right?

Why To Watch William & Mary Vs. Stony Brook

  • Records:
    • No. 15 Villanova 5-2
    • No. 24 Stony Brook 5-2
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 26 at 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  • Stony Brook Is Finally Being Respected

    • Top 25 polls can sometimes be rigid, often moving at a snail's pace. However, finally this week, Stony Brook got their flowers.
    • The AFCA Coaches Poll ranked the Seawolves at No. 24 after a fantastic start to the season.
  • Knockout

    • One of these teams' season will be derailed by this loss. Both have two losses.
    • The CAA is stacked right now, with five teams ranked in the Top 25.
    • Only one team gets the automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. Any at-large teams will be invited based on credentials.
    • Win and you have a chance.

Why To Watch Sul Ross State Vs. Angelo State

  • Records:
    • Sul Ross State 2-5
    • Angelo State 5-2
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  • First, A Round Of Applause

    • Sul Ross won their first game against a Disivion 2 football opponent last week.
    • The little west Texas desert school, known for its rodeo program, defeated Western New Mexico 34-20.
  • Angleo State Is F'real

    • Since losing their first two games of the season, the Rams have rattled off five wins, including blow-outs against UTPB, Kingsville and Midwestern State.
    • Angelo State's defense has only given up nine total offensive touchdowns through seven games.
    • The Rams have also yet to lose a game at home in San Angelo.

Why to Watch Midwestern State Vs. Central Washington

  • Records:
    • No. 11 Central Washington 5-2
    • Midwestern State 3-4
  • Day/Time: Saturday, October 26 at 9:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream link
  • Central Washington On The Rebound

    • Central Washington lost to UTPB by one point two weeks ago.
    • However, the Wildcats rebounded last week, destroying Kingsville 31-0.
    • With UTPB having a season on the downturn, CWU are still the team to beat in the LSC.
  • With That Said...

    • CWU is visiting Angelo State next week, in what could very likely decide the automatic bid from the LSC.
  • McGill & Flanagan Sounds Like A Law Firm

    • CWU quarterback Kennedy McGill is averaging 95 rushing yards a game, with over 7.4 per rush.
    • Teammate Tyler Flanagan is running for 80 yards a game, and has 8 rushing touchdowns in seven games.
    • For a team to beat CWU, they will have to stop McGill and Flanagan. Godspeed.
  • Weekly Reminder Tanner Volk Exists

    • Catch the ball if you dare. The CWU safety is a ball hawk.
