New Hampshire Gets 31-14 Road Win Over UAlbany
For the third consecutive year, New Hampshire gets past CAA rival UAlbany, though this year's 31-14 win was decided early in the contest.
For the third consecutive season, New Hampshire triumphed against UAlbany, though their 2024 matchup was lopsided from the start and ended with a 31-14 victory for the Wildcats.
New Hampshire (5-4, 3-2) scored twice in the opening quarter and built a 24-0 halftime lead to put the game away early at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, New York.
The Wildcats opened the scoring with an 86-yard strike from senior quarterback Seth Morgan to junior wide receiver Caleb Burke on their second play of the game. After a short pass, Burke was able to break free down the left sideline.
The New Hampshire ariel attack continued through the first half, with Morgan completing 9 of 14 passes for 172 yards and two scores. In the game, Morgan was 13 for 20 for 208 yards and three touchdowns.

The Wildcats’ first-half barrage included some help from graduate safety Wande Owens, who intercepted a pass from UAlbany quarterback Myles Burkett and returned it 50 yards for a UNH touchdown.
Junior kicker Nick Mazzie also got in on the balanced attack for the Wildcats, connecting for a 40-yard field goal to give the Wildcats their halftime advantage.
After the explosive first half, both teams were silent when play resumed, and the third quarter sped by without another point on the board.
UAlbany (3-6, 1-4) eventually put some pressure on New Hampshire in the final quarter, with backup quarterback Trey Lindsey orchestrating a 15-play 88-yard scoring drive that ended with Lindsey punching it in from a yard out. A successful two-point conversion narrowed the deficit to 24-8 with less than 10 minutes to play.
Morgan and the Wildcats answered quickly, driving 70 yards and putting the game out of reach with a 3-yard touchdown toss from Morgan to sophomore tight end Colby Ramshaw.
Lindsey entered the game at the end of the second half after starter Myles Burkett limped off the field following a sack and a lost fumble.
Burkett was 7 for 13 for 47 yards. Along with the fumble, he also was sacked twice and threw the game’s lone interception.
Lindsay was 11 of 23 for 117 yards and a 7-yard fourth-quarter touchdown toss to graduate running back Faysal Aden. Lindsay also led the UAlbany rushing effort with 58 yards and the score on 10 carries.
Offensively, the teams were relatively even in the game, but New Hampshire was able to take advantage of the UAlbany mistakes after breaking things open with the huge first score.
New Hampshire ran 51 plays for 297 yards (208 passing, 89 rushing), while UAlbany had 65 plays for 251 yards (164 passing, 87 rushing).
Up next for the Great Danes is a visit to Stony Brook next Saturday, while New Hampshire returns home to host Monmouth.

What To Watch For In The CAA During Week 10 Of The 2024 Season
Things are heating up for something teams in the CAA. Here’s a look at some things on which to keep an eye.
About New Hampshire Football
Last week, New Hampshire was on the receiving end as the Villanova defense unleashed all of the frustration that came with a shocking 35-7 loss to Maine the week before. The loss saw the Wildcats give up 21 first-quarter points and plummet in the rankings.
UNH was held to 254 yards of total offense, despite running almost 20 more plays than Villanova, which also struggled on the way to a 257-yard day.
New Hampshire never found the end zone, settling for just a pair of field goals on the day.
Through eight games, the Wildcats rank 13th in the CAA with 20.3 points per game, but they’re also keeping their opponents from scoring much, as they are fifth in the conference, allowing just 22.3 ppg.
Offensively, UNH is 15th in total offense (300.6) and last among the 16 CAA teams in rushing yards per game (83.3).
As the main quarterback for New Hampshire, senior Seth Morgan is having a solid year. He’s second in the conference touchdowns thrown (15), fourth in completions (143), completion percentage (66.5) and yards per game (210.1) and sixth in passing yards (1,471).
The UNH passing game is seventh in the CAA this year, averaging 217.3 yards per game.
The New Hampshire defense is tied for second in the CAA with 22 sacks, led by Josiah Silver, who leads the conference with 9.5. He also owns a conference-best 15 tackles for loss. Those marks are second and third, respectively, among all FCS teams.

About UAlbany Football
The 2024 UAlbany football season started under a cloud of sadness, as former standout AJ Simon died in April at age 25. He’d spent the previous two seasons with the Great Danes and was a huge part of their playoff run last season.
The first-team All-CAA selection was preparing for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Each week during the 2024 campaign, UAlbany is honoring Simon’s memory by picking one defensive player each game to wear Simon’s No. 8. The choice is based on who best exemplifies Simon’s work ethic and preparation during the week of practices.
Freshman defensive back Erv Wiggins Jr. will wear No. 8 against New Hampshire.
This year, the UAlbany defense is giving up 28.8 points and 363.9 yards per game, with both ranking in the bottom half of the CAA.
One bright spot is senior linebacker Dontae Lunan, who is first in the CAA and among the top 10 nationally with 81 total tackles this year. His 10.1 tackles per game also leads the CAA.
Offensively, UAlbany is 11th in the conference in total offense (331.8) and 14th with 19.6 points per game
Quarterback Myles Burkett does rank second in the CAA with 1,793 total yards and third with 224.1 yards passing per contest.
