4 Things To Know About Week 11 Of The 2024 FCS Football Season
The season might be slowly winding down, but here are 4 huge matchups that could shake up conference standings in Week 11 of the FCS season.
The 2024 FCS season is slowly coming to a close, but there were certainly some shakeups in this week's Top 25.
After a rocky start to the season, Richmond has stomped their way through the CAA, landing in the Top 10 of the rankings this week. The CAA has been filled with surprises as of late, between Stony Brook's magical season to William & Mary's struggles as of late. With two teams sitting at 5-0, Richmond and Rhode Island, and three schools at 4-1, Villanova, Stony Brook, and Delaware, there is still a huge question mark surrounding who will be crowned the CAA champion.

Meanwhile on the west coast, UC Davis has looked a bit shaky at times despite sitting at the No. 4 team in the country, with a record of 8-1. They face two huge tests in back to back Top 10 matchups.
Week 11 will definitely help answer some questions as it gets closer and closer to a conference champion being crowned. Here are some matchups and teams to keep an eye out for this weekend.
Battle For The Big Sky
In one of the biggest showdowns this week, No. 4 UC Davis goes on the road to face No. 7 Montana. The Aggies have looked like a national contender one week and then seem to barely scrape by the next all season long. They were hot last week, with a dominating 59-7 win at Northern Colorado. They cannot afford to start out slow these next two weeks, because just a week after their matchup with the No. 7 team in the country, they face the No. 2 team, Montana State who has dominated every team they've played this season. The Big Sky champion will come down to one of these teams, with Montana and Montana State facing off in the last week of the season. Montana State and UC Davis have the edge, both of them being undefeated in conference, but Montana definitely could snatch the title with two strong performances.
Major Question Marks In The CAA
All eyes are on Delaware and Rhode Island this week as URI looks to stay perfect and Delaware looks to keep their conference championship hopes alive. Delaware fell 28-9 at Richmond on October 19th, their lone blemish in conference play. With URI and Richmond being the only two undefeated teams in conference play at the moment, a win at URI could have Delaware entering the conversation in their last season in the CAA. Delaware will begin the transition to the FBS next season, and what better way to go out than by winning the conference. But, this weekend will a huge test for them. For Delaware to be successful and pull off a major offense, they will have to get their offense going early. URI has looked sluggish at times, barely pulling off some victories, so if Delaware can get in an offensive rhythm, this matchup is certainly one to watch.
More Chaos In The Ivy League
In yet another nail biter, Harvard topped Dartmouth in a crucial 31-27 win. That win knocks off the only undefeated team in the conference and creates a logjam at the top of the conference. Harvard, Dartmouth, and Columbia are now all 3-1 in conference with Brown and Cornell looking in at 2-2. Harvard has another huge matchup this week as they host Columbia. One of those teams will drop to two losses and on paper make it clearer who will be the winner of the Ivy League. But with week after week of close games, it's hard to truly count anyone out. Dartmouth has a tough game on the road at Cornell and hosts Brown at home the week after. Columbia similarly has to play the two teams sitting in second place at the moment. So while this weekend may provide some clarity, no one can truly be counted out. The winner of the Ivy League will be whichever team is able to consistently perform and make big plays when it comes down to it.
Can Missouri State Win The Missouri Valley Conference
Apart from their 13-9 win against South Dakota State, North Dakota State has looked absolutely dominant with an offense that runs like clockwork and a defensive wall. But sitting just behind NDSU are three very talented teams looking to take a stab at the MVC title. Missouri State sits at 5-0 in conference and has shown flashes of brilliance after an early season loss to Montana. They play Murray State this week, but are looking to a potentially undefeated showdown in North Dakota the week after. South Dakota and SDSU both also sit with one loss, and while their hopes at a conference title are slim, they're not impossible. South Dakota State has a huge matchup against Missouri State and South Dakota still has to take on North Dakota State. So the top four teams in the conference still have to play each other and could definitely cause some wild ties. But the question remains, can anyone else replicate the success SDSU had slowling down North Dakota State's high powered offense while also putting up points against their defense?
