Ferris State has been on a tear since a season-opening loss, and the Bulldogs are on the verge of locking up at least a share of their seventh Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title since the turn of the century and fourth since 2018.
Saginaw Valley State has continued to perform well this season and has emerged as one of the top teams in the conference behind Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
Last week, Ferris State handled Northern Michigan 55-9, and SVSU took care of Davenport, 24-14.
SVSU and Ferris State will meet Saturday at Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, Michigan. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Eastern, live on FloFootball.

The two schools have faced each other every season since 1975, and this will be their 49th consecutive meeting. Ferris State owns a 28-19-1 advantage in the series, including the last nine. In 2023, also in Big Rapids, the Bulldogs won 38-17.
The last time SVSU defeated Ferris State was 2013, but that win ended up being vacated. It was the third straight time the Cardinals bested the Bulldogs.
Ferris State enters the 2024 showdown 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches Poll and just ascended to the top spot in the D2Football.com Top 25 Poll.
Saginaw Valley State is 7-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Cardinals received votes in the AFCA poll and jumped into 24th place on the latest D2Football.com version.
In the Super Region 3 rankings, which ultimately determine which teams make the playoffs, Ferris State is No. 1, and SVSU is ranked No. 8 among the 10 teams in consideration. When the regular season concludes, 28 of the 40 teams on the final lists will advance to the playoff bracket.
