Grand Valley State improved to 8-1 with a 20-0 shutout victory over the Michigan Tech Huskies in Houghton, Michigan. 

The Lakers will certainly take the win, as they push to build momentum going into the D2 playoffs.

Avery Moore returned from injury to rush for nearly 100 yards, a rushing touchdown, and a passing touchdown. Moore used the rushing attack and play-action as the Lakers dominated possession, keeping the ball for over 40 minutes. 

The GVSU defense also stepped up, holding the Huskies to 100 yards total for the game. 

Michigan Tech's defense also played well, despite the loss, and put up multiple goal-line stands. Ultimately, though, the GVSU rushing attack wore them down.

Vinnie Meschi started last week and filled in for an injured Avery Moore and Ike Udengwu, leading the Lakers to a 51-28 victory over Wayne State. 

However, Avery Moore is expected to be starting for GVSU this afternoon, which can only be viewed as a coup for the Lakers as they prepare for the D2 playoffs.
