  • West Florida - In the last home game of the regular season, the Argonauts pulled together another impressive performance with a 35-16 against North Greenville. The defense shut out the Trailblazers in the second half and scored two touchdowns in the game with a fumble recovery return and pick-six. West Florida will need that and more when they play the No. 1 Valdosta State Blazers, the best team in the division.

  • Valdosta State - Coming into the game against Delta State it felt as if the Blazers would be challenged but instead it was the complete opposite when they set the tone from the beginning and scored on its first possession of the game with a seven play drive and after special teams got in on the action with a  touchdown off a blocked punt.

History Between West Florida And Valdosta State

  • Series History - This matchup will mark the ninth time these two Gulf South teams have met. Valdosta State has the edge with a 5-3 series lead and a close 31-28 win in the game last season thanks to a last-second touchdown from quarterback Sammy Edwards. This could also come down to the wire, as both teams have had the pleasure of running through most of their opponents. This could be the time they pull out a tough one.

  • Playoff Implications - Valdosta State wants the win to not only complete the undefeated regular season, it's first since 2019 but guarantee the No. 1 going into the playoffs and take home another Gulf South Conference title. A West Florida win would grant them an automatic bid for them, and they would win the conference title based on win percentage.
