The regular season for Division II has concluded, resulting in the final rankings of the year. Additionally, the first round of playoff matches will commence this weekend. While quite a few teams will continue their journey towards a D2 national title, many teams saw their season come to an end.

Here is what to know.

Valdosta State Clinches The No. 1 Seed And Undefeated Season

  • VSU gets the win and knocks out West Florida - The Blazers completed their regular season with a compelling 28-7 win over West Florida to give them the Gulf South championship, a bid in the playoffs, and the first-round bye. Valdosta State will look to make program history once again by completing the undefeated season with a national championship, something they did in 2019.

Ferris State Takes Home The GLIAC Title

  • The Bulldogs get the first-round bye - After the Anchor-Bone Classic, it was pretty much set in stone that Ferris State would win the GLIAC, but on Saturday it became official when the team defeated Davenport at home, 24-9. With the win, the Bulldogs get time to rest and prepare for either Central Oklahoma or Ouachita Baptist in the second round of the D2 playoffs.

  • Grand Valley State set to play UIndy - The Lakers finished the season with a 34-21 road victory over Roosevelt. They are ranked No. 5 and will be the No. 2 seed entering the Super Region Three bracket. If they can win against UIndy, they will face the winner between Pittsburg State and Harding.
