Quarterback RJ Martinez was electric for WT, racking up over 400 total yards and three rushing touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome 12 costly penalties and the critical safety that gave Mines the lead for good.
For the Orediggers, Joseph Capra threw three touchdowns, and Pierce Richards hauled in two scores. But it was the defense that came up clutch late, forcing a turnover on downs with five minutes left.
Mines starts 1-0 as Stitt returns to the sideline with a win.
