Deandre Scott Is A Playmaker Ready For The Spring League Showcase
Former Akron CB Deandre Scott will be playing in Napa this weekend at The Spring League Showcase.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Deandre: Tenacious, Playmaker, BALLER.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Deandre: I'm training on the west coast at a gym just staying in shape and doing my workouts from my trainer/field work. Staying in shape is the best thing you can do in getting ready for this next opportunity.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Deandre: I wouldn't say anybody. I focus on being my own type of player. But, if anyone I'd have to compare to, I would have to say a mixture between Chris Harris Jr, Joe Haden, and Tyrann Mathieu, because the Chris Harris was an underdog, just like me and proved everyone wrong. Joe Haden because he has a knack for the ball when it's in the air! The honey badger because he's an all around PLAYMAKER. I have all of those qualities in my game.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Deandre: First, I look at the ball placement, down and distance, formation and splits from the O line to (high hat or low hat), RB, most importantly WR. Look at the WR stance, and how a WR runs his routes, what routes to expect out of the different formations, and how he comes out of his breaks.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Deandre: What separates me is I'm a playmaker. You turn on the film and you'll see. I have everything you'd want out of a DB. If needed to come up and tackle I'll do that. When the ball is in the air or in my direction it's either a INT/PBU. I have a high football IQ. I can do it all LITERALLY, as well as special teams and wide receiver.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Deandre: First and foremost a good attitude. Community service. I love being active in the community as much as possible. A winning mentality. A team first mentality. A physical/athletic ability to come in and contribute right away to a organization that takes a chance on me. Someone that's gonna be clean on and off the field and come in to contribute anyway to get wins and a Super Bowl!
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Deandre: If you want a guy that simply LOVES and can play the GAME of football! I'm your guy! Want a guy that's going to keep his nose clean on and off the field, then I'm the one. Turn on the tape you're going to see a guy who loves football, is a baller, and most importantly, MAKES BIG PLAYS.
