Winless No More: Northern Colorado Powers Past Northern Arizona
Northern Colorado scored 30 unanswered second half points to earn its first victory of the season over Northern Arizona.
Winless and trailing yet another powerful opponent 14-12 at the half, it could have been just another down week in a season full of them for Northern Colorado.
Until it wasn’t.
The Bears scored 30 unanswered points in the second half on their way to a dominant 42-14 win over Northern Arizona on Saturday.

It was Keaton Mott, the former Top 25 quarterback prospect, earning the start for UNC on Saturday and the sophomore delivered. After a quiet first half, Mott engineered three scoring drives that ended in touchdowns.
With the game tied 14-14 following a safety, Mott captained a 10-play, 72-yard drive that took 3:08 off the clock and culminated with a nine-yard touchdown run by the Bears’ quarterback to put the home team ahead.
Two possessions later, Mott found Darren DeLaCroix on the other end of a 19-yard scoring strike and, suddenly, it was Northern Colorado with a commanding 28-14 lead—a lead it would only build on.

"It is an amazing feeling to pick up the first win. I said it after the Sacramento State game in this interview that no one could stop us but ourselves and I still believe that and we showed it today."
Mott finished 15-of-27 for 217 yards and scored three times.
All told, Northern Colorado scored on a pick six (Sherand Boyd), a blocked punt, a fumble recovery, a safety, two passes and a quarterback run.
The next Big Sky Conference game to stream live on FloFootball will feature Idaho State on the road at Portland State, Saturday, Nov. 3, with kickoff slated for 6:05 PM CT.
