Two Weeks To Prepare
While Morehouse has had to sit on their loss to rival Miles for two weeks, they've also had two weeks to prepare for a Savannah State rushing attack that is averaging nearly 240 yards a game. The good news for the Maroon Tigers? Their defense has held two of their three opponents this season to under 100 rushing yards.
D'vonn Gibbons Continues To Shine
The quarterback for Savannah State is the definition of a true dual-threat. In two of the three games so far this season, Gibbons has thrown and rushed for a touchdown. While Gibbons is more dangerous with his feet, when he does throw he's very effective. The SSU signal-caller has attempted 23 passes and four of them have gone for scores. That means he's finding the end zone on every fifth pass.
Back In The SIAC Groove
Last week Savannah State returned to SIAC play for the first time since 2000 after moving back down to Division II from the FCS level. It was a successful return as the Tigers knocked off Benedict 21-14. Now, they renew their rivalry with Morehouse College who owns a 15-14 all-time series advantage. In fact, it will be their first time playing in B.T. Harvey Stadium since 1997.
