New Hampshire's Oleh Manzyk Named STATS FCS Freshman Of The Week
New Hampshire freshman linebacker Oleh Manzyk has been selected as the STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week.
New Hampshire freshman linebacker Oleh Manzyk has been selected as the STATS FCS National Freshman Player of the Week.
Manzyk tallied a career-best eight tackles, a career-high 3.0 sacks and returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown in New Hampshire’s 26-10 triumph over Elon. Manzyk’s pickoff was the first of his career and gave the Wildcats a 13-3 lead in the first quarter.
His team-high three sacks were part of six in the game for UNH, which also forced five turnovers and held Elon to 267 total yards. The victory was the third straight for the Wildcats, who improved to 2-0 in CAA play.

It was the fourth time this season that CAA Football has received a National Player of the Week award as Villanova junior cornerback Jaquan Amos was honored as Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 2, Elon senior defensive end Marcus Willoughby was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9 and Maine senior wide receiver/kick returner Earnest Edwards was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 23.
In addition to Manzyk’s award, four CAA Football players – Richmond defensive end Maurice Jackson (Defensive), Elon defensive back Greg Liggs, Jr. (Defensive), Villanova linebacker Forrest Rhyne (Defensive) and Richmond kicker Jake Larson (Special Teams) - received honorable mention for national accolades from STATS.
