The Campbell Fighting Camels will host the Tribe of William & Mary in the 2023 season opener on Aug. 31 at Barker-Lane Stadium.

In 2022, William and Mary won at home against Campbell, 37-21. But Campbell wasn’t in the Coastal Athletic Association yet, as this will be its first game as a member of the CAA. 

In the Coastal Athletic Association, William & Mary was picked to win the league in the preseason coaches poll. With Campbell’s exciting debut in the conference, the Week 1 matchup is one of the more anticipated games of the week in CAA action.

Campbell makes the grand move from the Big South Conference to the Coastal Athletic Association for the upcoming season. In 2022, the Camels were 5-6 overall, and ended 2-3 in conference competition. Returning as head coach for his 11th season, Mike Minter will lead their debut.

With its near-record season in 2022, the Tribe are expected to embark on a great performance this season. William & Mary had a record of 11-2 overall last season, and closed the conference with a 7-1 record with a co-CAA title with New Hampshire. For his fifth season, head coach Mike London is leading the team and entering the season having won three CAA titles.
