Campbell Football will play the Monmouth Hawks in week 3 at Kessler Stadium

Both Campbell Football and Monmouth are coming off big wins against The Citadel and Towson, respectively. The teams will look to continue their winning ways as they face each other for the first time in two years on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, New Jersey. 

Two games into the season, Monmouth QB Marquez McCray has passed for 486 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception. 

After losing to No. 4 William & Mary in week 1, the Campbell Camels also added a win to their season in week 2, crushing Citadel 56-7.

Hajj-Malik Williams has looked efficient, accumulating 579 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Williams is also completing 81 percent of his passes.

What To Know About Campbell Camels Football

Through two weeks, Campbell has been playing balance football. The program currently ranks No. 2 in offense in the CAA, averaging 40 points per game. The defense has also been strong, ranking at No. 3 in the CAA, allowing an average of 20 points per game. It’s early, but the team seems to have taken a step forward in their first year in the Coastal, after going 5-6 last season in the Big South.

Campbell also received accolades for their play so far this season. Hajj-Malik Williams and VJ Wilkins earned CAA Football Player of the Week honors this past week, and, while not yet ranked in the top 25, the team earned votes in Stats Peform’s FCS poll.

What To Know About Monmouth Hawks Football

Monmouth is led by the dual-running threat of Jaden Shirden, who is leading the CAA in rush attempts, averaging 105 yards per game, and Sone Ntoh, who with just five attempts through two games, has already scored four touchdowns. 

Currently, Monmouth is ranked 5th in scoring offense in the CAA, scoring about 31 points per game. However, the team’s defense has yet to get their legs under them, allowing 32 points per game on average so far this season.
