The North Carolina A&T football team had some growing pains in 2023, debuting in the Coastal Athletic Association with a new head coach.

Vincent Brown and the Aggies struggled in their new digs, winning just one game on the season, while going 0-8 in their new conference. The Aggies finished the year at 1-10, with the lone victory being a 28-26 win over Norfolk State on Sept. 30.

N.C. A&T shared the bottom rung of the CAA standings with Stony Brook, though the Seawolves were 0-10 overall. They also had one of their games canceled.

Campbell also joined the CAA for the 2023 season and went on to finish in the middle of the 15-team standings, going 4-4 in the conference and 5-6 overall.

In 2022, their final season in the Big South Conference, the N.C. A&T was 7-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play. They finished second in the Big South standings behind Gardner-Webb.

Over the last 125 years, the Aggies have found success in multiple conferences and among the nation’s HBCUs. Based on their past, there’s little doubt they’ll find their footing in the CAA, too.
